Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue
A Finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Drama

A young Marine comes to terms with his service in Iraq and his father's service in Vietnam.  Premiered by Page 73 Productions at New York’s Culture Project in January 2006, directed by Davis McCallum.  Also produced by the Alliance Theatre, Teatro Vista/Rivendale/Steppenwolf Garage (co-pro), The New Theatre, Gala Theatre, Miracle Theatre, and Luna Stage, and translated into Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian for international performance.  Originally written with the support of a Page 73 Fellowship.  Purchase the script from Dramatists Play Service.

26 Miles
A mother defies a custody arrangement, kidnaps her estranged teenage daughter, and the two disappear into the American wilderness.  Commissioned by South Coast Repertory and Signature Theatre.  Workshopped at Seattle Repertory Theatre.  26 Miles will be premiered next season at the Alliance Theatre.

Yemaya's Belly
A boy flees his Cuban village after a fire destroys his family's farm.  He meets a determined stranger and together they sail toward the United States.  Premiered by Portland Stage Company in 2005, directed by Peter Sampieri.  Also produced by Signature Theatre, People's Light and Theatre, Miracle Theatre, and Detroit Repertory.  Recipient of the 2005 Clauder Prize, the Paula Vogel Award in Playwriting, and the Kennedy Center ACTF Latina Playwriting Award.  Purchase the script from Dramatists Play Service.

 

The Adventures of Barrio Grrrl!
To escape the doldrums of her life, Ana Ortiz imagines herself a superhero. Together with her sidekick, the Amazing Voice, she tries to save all barrio women from invisibility and broken hearts. Premiered by Miracle Theatre in 2005, directed by Olga Sanchez.  Also produced by the Summer Play Festival in NYC and the Brown University/Trinity Repertory New Plays Festival.
